Marvel's Avengers' New Tachyon Anomaly Event Brings Fan Requested Feature - ComicBook.com

By MATTHEW AGUILAR - April 15, 2021 01:28 pm EDT

During the recent Square Enix Presents event fans got a look at what is coming down the pike for Marvel's Avengers, and in addition to a big Black Panther-themed expansion fans have several smaller events and content packs to look forward to. That includes the Tachyon Anomaly Event, and now Crystal Dynamics has revealed when the event will kick-off and what fans can expect from it. The Tachyon Anomaly Event will hit the game on April 22nd, and will also bring with it the ability to choose any hero in your Strike Team, regardless of which heroes others choose. That means a 4 Hulk lineup is totally possible, as is a two and two combo of Captain America and Kate Bishop and any other combo you can think of.

he event will focus around Tachyon Anomalies, and from April 22nd to May 3rd the anomalies will have Avengers from different timelines converging into one place, hence the story reason for having a 4 Thor group. There will also be a weekly mission chain that rewards Hivemind Set Gear and Priority Set Gear will be obtainable during daily missions, and you can also buy hero-specific animated nameplates in the Marketplace.

There will also be an increase in Tachyon Rift missions on the War Table and they will rotate every day for power levels 1 - 100. There's also a new Tachyon mission titled "And We're Back." You can find the official rundown below.

Temporal Assault

AIM's tampering with time has led to periodic Tachyon Anomalies. Whenever these events occur, Avengers from different timelines can converge in a single location and take on the world's threats together. The first Tachyon Anomaly is happening from April 22 to May 3 and allows players to form teams of more than one of the same hero, so a Strike Team of four Hulks is possible – and smashingly wild. Players can also matchmake into teams that contain the same Heroes, meaning you’ll never know what combination of Heroes you may be part of.

During these two weeks, there will be a weekly mission chain that rewards Hivemind Set Gear, and daily missions that reward Priority Set Gear for high-level Heroes.

We’re also introducing Temporal Assault Nameplates which are animated nameplates you can get to add some shine to your experience. You’ll receive an animated team nameplate as a reward for the first completion of the weekly mission chain that can be used on any Hero!

There are also Hero-specific animated nameplates that will be available in the Marketplace:

April 22 - 29 – Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk

April 29 – May 6 – Iron Man, Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop

Let us know what you think of this event and if you want it to return!

Tachyon Rift Missions

During the Tachyon Anomaly Event, multiple Tachyon Rift Missions will appear at a time. There will also be new Tachyon Rift Missions for Heroes who are Power Level 1-100, which will rotate every day and offer relevant rewards. Finally, there is a new Tachyon Mission in town: And We’re Back.

For players who may be new to Marvel’s Avengers, Tachyon Rifts are timed missions that usually require Power Level 140+ with only one appearing on the War Table per week. These missions reward powerful Cosmic Gear that can allow Heroes to gain Willpower (Life) upon attacking enemies. In order to unlock Tachyon Rift Missions, players must complete the SHIELD Substation Zero Mission Chain that takes them to the Pacific Northwest.

Marvel's Avengers is available on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC now.

Marvel's The Avengers: 10 Most Exciting Rumors & Theories For The War For Wakanda Expansion - SCREEN RANT

BY GEORGE CHRYSOSTOMOU

PUBLISHED 1 DAY AGO

The next DLC release for Marvel's The Avengers is titled The War For Wakanda. Here are some of the best rumors surrounding the expansion.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics may not have had the hit on their hands that they may have expected with Marvel's Avengers, but the title is set for a big year in 2021 with a roadmap of updates leading to the exciting next installment of this ongoing story.

This next DLC release is titled The War For Wakanda and is being pitched as a much larger expansion that is surely set to shift the game into new territory and bring in both old players and new fans alike. The DLC is based around King T'Challa, the Black Panther, as well as Wakanda itself. There's a great number of theories surrounding the project as well as a few rumors as to what could be in store for owners of the game.

10

MCU Skins

One thing that has already been confirmed for the Avengers game, in general, is that players will be able to purchase skins for their heroes, based on the costumes and designs of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Indeed, the first hero that will get their big-screen attire will be Black Widow in the Red Room update.

However, with this news already exciting fans, it's very possible that to coincide with the launch of The War For Wakanda, the game may also allow players to purchase the MCU skin for Black Panther, alongside some of the other characters that may be taking part in the DLC.

9

New Boss Battle

It's fair to say that Black Panther probably deserves his own solo title, but since the King of Wakanda is being folded into the Avengers game it's only fitting that one of his most significant villains also makes the jump from the comic book page to the video game screen.

Klaw will be the foe involved in one of the latest boss battles that players can partake in. Of course, this is welcome news considering the game is low on villains. Reveals from the trailer and knowledge of the character from the source material show that this may be a more comics accurate Klaw, complete with his sonic weaponry and modern take on his classic costume.

8
Ant-Man's Involvement

There's a great number of playable characters rumored for the future of the game but one hero that has yet to get in on the action is Hank Pym. Players are familiar with the extremely quotable Ant-Man's role in the game's story but the character thus far has not been controllable for fans.

This may change with The War For Wakanda and the involvement of Klaw. Ant-Man, Klaw, and Black Panther all have a history in the comics. In fact, this has spread to other areas of the Marvel Universe such as the Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated show, with the episode entitled The Man In The Ant Hill being a good example of this. It's plausible that Ant-Man may become playable in this DLC.

7
A Solo Intro Mission

The Hawkeye Future Imperfect DLC gave players a glimpse into the potential future for this version of the Marvel Universe. The expansion opened up with fans being introduced to Old Man Clint, as he fought his way through decaying AIM robots.

With the success of this opening, theories suggest that Black Panther may be getting an extremely similar opening that players can enjoy that's slightly detached from the main narrative. Whether it's fighting criminals in Wakanda or a side mission with a familiar rogue, Square Enix may have found a successful way to bring in additional Avengers effectively.

6
Other Enemies

The official description for this latest DLC has some potential hints as to some of the other characters that fans can expect from the Avengers title. Interestingly it describes new enemies and teases much much more that has yet to be announced.

The assumption is that with Klaw there will come new foes to fight. Since this is being pitched as an expansion, Klaw may not be the only foe players can face, with the likes of the iconic Killmonger or Malice as potential options for the update.

5
The Wakandan Palace

The official description for the game, alongside the various backgrounds that can be seen in the trailer showcase that Wakanda really will be featured heavily as part of this Black Panther DLC. Indeed, it seems it will be a location that players can return to like the Ant Hill or the Chimera. With that in mind, it's highly likely that players will be able to interact with the capital of Wakanda itself and use the Palace as a base. The tag line is 'Bow Down To The King' meaning these royal facilities will come into play somehow. It's sure to be an exciting update for fans of the MCU and the comics if this turns out to be the case.

4
Familiar Allies

Players will know that each location has its own unique set of characters that match their setting. They are often used as vendors and NPCs, yet with their models inside of the game it's possible players could suit up as Maria Hill or Dum Dum Dugan down the line.

With The War For Wakanda firmly set in the African nation, the setting will need its own set of NPCs. There's been speculation that heroes like Okoye, Shuri, and the various tribes of Wakanda, could therefore all be featured in the locations that players visit.

The Winter Soldier

There have been a number of lists created using various leaks and patch notes about the characters that players may have access to in the future of the game. Thus far these have been mostly accurate with Kate Bishop, Clint Barton, and now King T'Challa joining the fold.

With a Wakanda DLC that is clearly partially inspired by the MCU, it's possible another hero/villain makes their debut. The Winter Soldier has been featured on many of these rumored lists. With his time in Wakanda as the White Wolf on the big screen and the game further tying itself to this cinematic universe, it may be that the various personas of Bucky could play a part in this expansion.

2
Involvement of the Infinity Stones

There's been a number of canceled Marvel video games in the past, some of which attempted to deal with the cosmic side of Marvel. Thanks to social media though, new fan theories and speculation suggests that this cosmic universe may be about to collide with the Avengers game.

Fans have suggested that due to the colors chosen in the design of the roadmap for future DLC, Square Enix might be teasing the upcoming debut of the Infinity Stones. It may even be that Wakanda is the home to the first of these stones. Of course, players have already encountered the Kree, so this galactic link feels even more reasonable.

1
Shuri

While the Winter Soldier is a theory that may not link to The War For Wakanda, surely an intelligent hero like Shuri might be a playable hero that fans can interact with.

Considering the costumed model for both T'Challa and Shuri's versions of the Black Panther would be relatively similar, it's plausible that the King's sister is brought into the game as an alternative skin (with additional voice acting) or perhaps as a slight copy, as was the case with Kate Bishop and Clint Barton who carried similar skillsets.

Outriders is putting the RPG back into looter shooters - TSA

 By: Stefan L

The looter shooter genre has been booming for years now, from Destiny and The Division, to Warframe, Borderlands, and beyond. Set on the alien world of Enoch, with the survivors of a calamitous colonisation attempt imbued with magical abilities, Outriders is People Can Fly’s big budget take on the popular genre.

Firstly, just in case it needs clarifying, let’s get one thing clear about Outriders: it’s not a live game. Instead this is a game with a self-contained story, but what advantage do People Can Fly feel that gives them?

“First, you are not being tempted to buy some shady monetisation practice!” Bartek Kmita, Creative Director laughed. “I’m joking of course, and I’m not against games as a service; it can be cool and I play these kinds of games, so if a game is designed from day one as a service” – “And that the player is happy about it!” added Szymon Barchan, Lead Narrative Designer – “then this can work.”

Bartek continued, “We thought about [making a GaaS] many years ago, that maybe this was the right approach? But what were we going to do? We’d chop the game into segments, into chapters, the story would be delivered in parts. We asked ourselves if this was something we’d want as players, and decided that no, we didn’t want that. Let’s go the classical approach as Diablo did, let’s release the game as a whole, and if players are enjoying the game we can add expansions.”

An action RPG shooter with a clear beginning, middle and an end sounds oddly refreshing, even when there are some other notable examples. To be honest, though, a fair bit of Outriders’ setting and story feels… let’s just say that it feels like we’ve seen this kind of thing before. Small pockets of humanity are struggling to survive, there’s infighting over resources, and a big anomaly that is shrouding large parts of the world, making them utterly inhospitable and deadly. There’s unknown dangers, broad mysteries and plenty of intangibles to the game’s setting and the driving plot right now.

It’s how those mysteries can be peeled back through the game that is pretty different to Destiny or Anthem. There’s far less pressure to keep things back for a drip feed of content over the course of months and years that follow. Well, outside of any hopes for a sequel, that is.

“Some of the questions, a lot of them will be answered during the story,” Bartek said, “but there is a big world and not everything will be touched and some of the mysteries will be mysteries for a little bit longer!”

Szymon said, “We have a lot of content inside for the players to be playing for a really long time. All the main path, the side activities, and some endgame content we won’t be discussing right now. There’s various things you can do, and it can be 40 hours, even without the end content, depending on the play style. […] We have all the lore, all the knowledge about the world is inside the game. You don’t need to go anywhere else, like external sites; you can read it fully inside the game. ”

The game will take on a kind of road trip format, as your Outrider leads a large truck from location to location, bringing a village-worth of NPCs and vendors along for the ride. However, while the main path through the story is linear, the world design blends in more open world elements, and there’s side quests that can draw you back to previous areas.

Bartek explained, “What’s important to mention is that we don’t have an open world, but we don’t have a completely linear game either. We have a linear game, but it’s branching into different arenas, different levels and parts of the world. It’s merging the classic levels from a story-driven game with the open world choice and freedom of exploration.”

Everything we’ve seen of Outriders so far has a real front foot approach to combat. Though there’s cover shooting underpinning the action, an emphasis has been placed on showing off the magical abilities available to the various outrider classes, often seeing them leap into the fray and get stuck in. It should come as no surprise considering this is the same team behind 2011’s Bullestorm.

For People Can Fly, it’s a style of gameplay that comes from treating this as an action RPG with shooter elements, rather than the other way around. You see that through the combat, where the gunplay often looks like the backup plan.

The various abilities feed into one another, while a number of character builds feeding off the action to regenerate your health. The Pyromancer, for example, can use Ash Blast to immobilise enemies, encasing them in dust while you line up headshots, or use Heatwave to create a wall of flames that they cannot escape. And now that they’re all weakened and clustered together, Thermal Bomb can set an enemy ablaze, rising up and exploding as they’re health bar runs empty.

But those are just one potential trio of abilities that you can equip from the Pyromancer’s eight, allowing for flexibility of play styles just from switching them out. Dig a little deeper though, and there’s a large skill tree with three branches, funnelling players toward Ash Breaker, Firestorm and Tempest character builds, and the added flexibility of finding items and gear that fundamentally modify the abilities you have equipped.

“The skill tree and the three branches, to be honest, are mostly added to help people who are not so familiar with this kind of trees.” Bartek said. “We have to direct their fantasy if they don’t want to deal with build management, but if you’re a player who wants to analyse and create the build, to create their own Outrider, for some builds you don’t even have to go the full branch of the class tree. You can mix and match different paths, which is more important sometimes than just going to the end […] and it’s even more complicated because of the items that you’ll find.”

Most importantly, the style of play you have chosen shouldn’t change as the difficulty increases, with World Tiers that ramp up the challenge and the rewards, but access to these shifting up as you progress and down should you fall in combat. It’s a unique risk and reward system, with the option always there to step away from that, play on lower difficulty and just take in the story.

Bartek explained, “Basically, if you are not playing according to what you have built, then you will fail. So, for example, if you build a character that is squishy and getting hit with one bullet will kill you, then you will stay in cover and get the cover shooter experience, up until you’ve killed the most dangerous enemies and you’re able to go out and finish them off.

“On the other hand, you can create the same character in a way that relies on permanently regenerating health when you are close to enemies to keep you alive, then you will not be able to stay in cover, you will have get close no matter the difficulty level.”

But don’t call this the endgame – Bartek and Szymon chuckled when I asked if they were calling it the Infinity War instead, though probably out of pity. Nothing has been revealed about the actual endgame content just yet, beyond its existence as a means to keep players that want to hunt for that perfect character build engaged after the main campaign and clearing any side content they missed.

It would be easy to dismiss Outriders out of hand, but to do so would be to overlook the ways it stands out from its fellow looter shooters. The greater emphasis on the RPG side of the game, with character builds that are more than just what you happen to be wearing and holding in your hands, and just having a self-contained story all sounds rather appealing to me. Throw in People Can Fly’s game-making history, and Outriders is definitely a game to keep an eye on.

PlayStation 5 Made Entirely Out Of Brass Looks Beautiful - SCREEN RANT

An inventive YouTuber turns the regular black and white plastic casing of PlayStation 5 into one made out of solid brass, resulting in a unique look.

BY DMITRY LAPUNOV
PUBLISHED 7 DAYS AGO

Despite already being a stunning console with its futuristic design, the PlayStation 5 looks even more incredible when made entirely out of brass. But while some lucky owners of the newest Sony console are playing around with custom designs, the general public is likely to face a worsened shortage of PS5 supply.

The recent accident in the Suez Canal, which has seen a giant trapped ship blocking off the entire channel, has had severe repercussions worldwide. Not only has it already cost the world economy over $50 billion in losses but the gaming industry might also be hit with harsh consequences. There are reasonable fears that the Suez Canal blockage might contribute to an already considerable shortage of PlayStation 5 consoles. The insufficient supply of consoles has led to a widespread presence of scalpers who resell PS5s at massively inflated prices, and the situation will probably escalate even further thanks to this shipping calamity.

YouTube content creator DIY Perks has transformed the regular black and white PlayStation 5 casing into a custom one made entirely out of brass. While acknowledging in the video that the original design of the console is among the most impressive and recognizable console styles in years, the author has nonetheless decided to elevate it to a whole new level. After all, as DIY Perks admits, the striking exterior is just some plastic. This thought brought the author to the decision to make a brand new casing out of higher quality material. More specifically, brass. The video covers the whole process of remaking the PS5 and turning it into a shiny creation of metal. Needless to say, the end result looks like a premium piece of gaming equipment that way. Additionally, the visual rework could serve some practical purposes, as brass is sometimes used as a solution to make heatsinks. Thus, the new casing might be a least somewhat more effective for distributing heat than the original one made out of plastic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRo-lnBKhLo&t=3s

The current generation of consoles continues to be dominated by Sony, judging by the first sales figures shared by the company. As relayed by well-known industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, Sony shipped over 4.5 million units of PlayStation 5 during Q3, which covers the last quarter of 2020. This is undoubtedly a strong start for the newest gaming platform, which is likely to become even more popular once all the supply problems are dealt with.

The PS5’s design is amazing, to say the least, but the ability to customize it makes it even more impressive than it already is. DIY Perks did use special skills and equipment to rework the plastic casing into a metal one, but even with that in mind, any inventive person should be able to give the console a unique look. Hopefully, Sony recognizes the demand for additional PlayStation 5 color options and will introduce a few official solutions to choose from.

Fortnite is getting a Bruno Mars emote - THE VERGE

Bruno Mars is the latest celebrity to jump into the virtual world of Fortnite. Today, developer Epic Games announced that the battle royale game would be getting a new Mars emote — essentially an in-game dance — set to the singer’s song “Leave the Door Open.” Players will be able to buy it starting at 8PM ET tonight.

Fortnite is steadily becoming a place filled with real-world stars, whether it’s streamers like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins or the upcoming appearance of Brazilian soccer star Neymar.

Music, in particular, has been a big focal point for the game. Marshmello and Travis Scott both held massive in-game concerts with millions of virtual attendees, BTS debuted a music video, and Epic even created its own soundstage to host shows from the likes of Dominic Fike, J Balvin, and Anderson .Paak (who recently performed with Bruno Mars at the Grammys).

The battle royale game kicked off its latest season last month, which so far has included everything from rampaging dinosaurs to stonks.
